Rodarius Marcell Green[1] (born August 27, 1999), known professionally as Rod Wave, is an American rapper and singer. He is known for his strong voice and incorporation of hip hop and R&B,[1] and has been recognized as a trailblazer of soul-trap.[3] Wave rose to fame with the 2019 single "Heart on Ice", which went viral on YouTube and TikTok and peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.[4] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019) , peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200.[5] His second album, Pray 4 Love (2020), peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200,[6] and included the song "Rags2Riches", which peaked at number 12 on the Hot 100. His third album, SoulFly (2021), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking his first chart-topping album. The album features the tracks "Richer" (featuring Polo G), "Street Runner", and "Tombstone" (the latter of which is his highest-charting song, peaking at number 11 on the Hot 100).

Critics and fans often credit him for his musical versatility, with his music exploring emo, drill, trap, lo-fi, indie rock, nu metal, hip hop, R&B, and punk rock. He is considered to be a leading figure in the emo-rap and SoundCloud rap genres which garnered mainstream attention during the mid-late 2010s.[15]

DaBaby's debut studio album Baby on Baby (2019) peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200,[5] while his second studio album, Kirk (2019), debuted at number one.[6] The former album featured the Billboard Hot 100 top-ten single "Suge", while the latter featured the multi-platinum records "Intro" and "Bop".[7] His third studio album, Blame It on Baby (2020), became his second consecutive number-one album in the US. The album included his highest-charting song, "Rockstar" (featuring Roddy Ricch), which spent seven non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.[8]
